Beyond the Boat: Athletes of Distinction
Syracuse Rowing athletes don't just compete — they lead, achieve, and inspire in the classroom and beyond. These are the honors earned by our current athletes this academic year.
Chemical engineering student, two-time team captain, and member of the 2V8 that finished fifth at IRAs. The third men's rower to win this award in four years.
Men's Rowing · SeniorChosen by his teammates as the individual who best embodies the character, commitment, and spirit of what it means to be a Syracuse oarsman.
Men's Rowing · JuniorShattered the team 2k record (5:46.7). Co-won the Whitman Real Estate Case Competition alongside Ethan Graham and Sam Fernandez. Nominated for Male Athlete of the Year. Will row and study at Cambridge University in the fall.
Finance · SeniorTriple major in Forensic Science, Russian Language Literature & Culture, and International Relations. Highest cumulative GPA on the team. Recognized for the highest level of dedication and academic excellence in Russian studies.
Triple Major · JuniorDouble major in Economics and German Language Literature & Culture. Recognized among the highest-achieving students across all language programs at Syracuse.
Double Major · SeniorAerospace Engineering major recognized by the Mechanical and Aerospace Awards Committee for the top senior design project in his field.
Aerospace Engineering · SeniorSenior co-captain and President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. One of six Syracuse student-athletes recognized for an impressive commitment to community service initiatives.
Men's Rowing · Senior Co-CaptainLate in the winter, Abby was diagnosed with leukemia. She has been away from campus receiving treatment — and continuing to work toward completing her undergraduate degree. Abby received the Syracuse 8 Courage Award in recognition of her inspiring optimism and determination in facing her illness. Her story is a reminder that the character forged on the water carries our athletes through the hardest moments off of it.
