Class of ‘83.

Pam Carey Schrock walked onto the women’s team her Sophomore year. By her Senior year, she was racing in the Varsity 4+, where they placed 3rd in Sprints. She was named the Lucille H. Verhulst Sportswoman of the Year in 1982 awarded by her team. After graduation in 1983, Pam returned to her native South Florida residence to continue rowing with the Miami Rowing Club for another 10+ years. In the past 10 years, Pam has reconnected with SARA and alumnae team which has sparked her passion to grow the Women’s program by reconnecting the women’s alumnae and fundraising.

Class of ‘87

A 1987 alum and co-captain of the men’s team, Jay Greytok has worked over thirty years teaching and coaching at The Haverford School and the past twenty-three as head of the middle school. Jay has his master’s in education from the University of Pennsylvania and his MBA and doctorate from St Joseph’s University. He is most proud of the continued success of the Boost the ‘Cuse fundraiser for both the men's and women's program and the Championship Journey campaign. In the future, Jay hopes to contribute his time and energy as a member of the SARA board while meeting alumni who also share his passion for the program and bleed orange.

Class of ‘95

Last year, I had the privilege of serving on a committee that utilized AI to initiate the design of a mentorship program for alumni and rowers. My extensive rowing background, in addition to coxing at Syracuse and engaging with novice to national team squads internationally, equips me to make significant contributions to the association. With a strong track record serving on both 'not for profit' and 'for profit' tech start-up boards, I am well-prepared to support the SARA board effectively.

Class of ‘99

I am currently a Senior Engagement Consultant working in healthcare and the insurance industry but am looking to shift my efforts back to community and population health nationally and on an international level. In regards to rowing, I am currently serving my 9th year as a Board member for Potomac Boat Club, my second year as the Club's President. With these two roles, I develop and manage strategic plans and projects to ensure that current objectives set by myself or my teams can lead to long-term goals of the organization. Very generic terms to say that there are many day to day items that need to be addressed, but the way I approach or decide on what needs to be done must meet the mission of the organization. If we can be mission focused and engage the vast alums and their skills, SARA should be able to assist the current rowing programs at Syracuse, while building a network opportunity for professional and personal growth. There is a lot of work to be done and engagement is not an easy task when it comes to development work. We need to pull in alums to assist with this heavy lift, but with the right appeals and recruiting, we should be able to accomplish this while remaining mission focused.

Class of ‘02

Erin Gallagher was a coxswain at Syracuse from 1998 through 2002. She started on the Men’s Team freshman year and switched to coxing on the Women’s Team sophomore year. While on the Women’s team she won multiple Big East titles, including the inaugural Big East Conference Championship. Erin coxed the varsity 8+ in 2002, when the women got their first full team bid to NCAA Championships. She won Academic Big East and Academic All-American honors and was named on the First Team All-American (Mid-Atlantic).

Erin has stayed actively involved in the rowing community since leaving Syracuse. She coached at both Rutgers University and Mercer Junior Rowing Club in Princeton, NJ. Erin is licensed to officiate through both USRowing and World Rowing. Erin has been a board member of the Scholastic Rowing Association of America since 2012. She is passionate about connecting the alumni to the current athletes through fundraising and other means that allow the tradition, legacy, and support to shine through with actions that the athletes can see and feel.

Class of ‘06

Dan, Co-Captain of the '06 Crew team, brought his talents as a transfer from Northeastern University. Hailing from Brockville, Ontario, just hours north of Syracuse, he readily joined Coach Dave's program in its second season. Despite sparse victories in '04 and '05, the team transformed into an undefeated dual racing powerhouse in '06, making waves at Sprints and IRA's. Several factors contributed to their speed surge: teammates' growing strength, the addition of The Great One Bartosz Szczyrba, and unwavering adherence to Coach Dave's guidance—less talk, more action. Dan later excelled at Cambridge, securing a boat race win but narrowly losing to Justin Stangel. His journey encompassed years at Goldman and Bank of America Merrill Lynch before establishing OSF Partners, a Canadian life insurance planning enterprise. Rowing mirrors life's complexity, embodying both defined challenges and unpredictability. As alumni, our influence endures, fostering a culture of support, encouragement, and victory for present and future athletes, on and off the water.

Class of ‘07

Joel, a proud native of Fayetteville, NY, had early dreams of playing college basketball. Those dreams were interrupted by a knee injury during high school pickup game during his senior year, a turning point that led him to enroll at Syracuse. In the fall of 2003, fate intervened once again during freshman orientation in the Dome. A chance encounter with coaches Chris Ludden and Dave Reischman inspired him to walk on to the Men’s Rowing Team. Joel is a member of the Class of 2007, the first class to row all four years under Coach Reischman. Joel co-captained the team his senior year together with the rest of the Class of 2007. He graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse and cum laude from Villanova University School of Law. He is a real estate lawyer and partner in New York office of Greenberg Traurig, LLP. Joel and his wife, Heather live in Brooklyn and welcomed their daughter, Hadley, in June 2023, so most other hobbies have been temporarily put on hold in favor of getting as much sleep as possible, but all of the Harrisons will always bleed Orange! 

Class of ‘89

Gayle was casually scouted while strolling through the quad during her first year at Syracuse—apparently, being 6 feet tall was the only requirement (well, almost, she's 5'11"). She had never rowed before, and little did she know, rowing would become a lifelong fitness staple and her teammates, the cornerstone of her personal and professional support network. Post-Syracuse, she joined a mixed 8 crew team that rowed out of a boathouse on Manhattan’s Harlem River, (THAT was interesting...I've got stories!) even competing in the 1990 Empire State Games. In 2019, she reconnected with Emme Aronson and her band of merry alumnae at a Ten Eyck dinner, rekindling that connection and now, she's all in on boosting the Women's program and supporting graduating rowers as they kick off their professional life. After a diverse career in product development spanning apparel, footwear, and beauty, Gayle hit the books again to snag a Master's in Business for Social Impact and Sustainability. With a focus on conscious design, she’s now the go-to for brand strategy and product development for brands looking to explore white space, expand consumer reach and extend their product assortment.
